Site-specific performances, pedagogical and performative mediation projects, texts, readings, and choreographic games — Agnieszka Ryszkiewicz’s work unfolds in series and subverts conventional formats.

Trained in contemporary dance in Austria, then at Paris 8 University and at the CNDC in Angers, Agnieszka is drawn to the different ways bodies are present in the performing and visual arts. She went on to work with the creative laboratory of the Palais de Tokyo and the Pygmalion acting studio in order to move more freely between projects in theater, dance, and the visual arts.

Her reflection on time and memory, as well as on the iconography of the female body, lead her toward pared-down stagings in which professional and amateur performers became characters in suggested fictions. By exhausting the mechanisms of repetition, quotation, and efficiency, bodies and objects escape the performers’ control and become spaces of projection rather than protagonists.

As both performer and project author, her work has been presented in France and internationally in theaters, museums, and galleries (CNDC Angers, Musée des Beaux-Arts d’Angers, Frac Pays de la Loire, MAC VAL, Palais de Tokyo, Paris; Galerie Maria Lund, Paris; Galerie Paradise, Nantes; Fondation François Sommer, Paris; Performatica Festival, Mexico; Art for Children Biennale, Poland; Stary Browar, Poznań, Poland…), as well as in less conventional contexts such as detention centers, schools, and public squares.

In 2010, she co-founded Météores — a research and choreographic production platform whose aim was for the last 15 years to enable the artists it accompanies to navigate the art world with as much freedom as possible.

In 2025 she graduated from Nourishing Heart Yoga Teachers Program and begun to teach Yoga.

Agnieszka currently lives in Bloomington, Indiana, USA, where she dedicates her time to writing, teaching yoga and working with children.
