SensArtionnel

A year long program to help children fall in love with ART ∙ 2014/2015 & 2015/2016

SensArtsionnel is a classes à PAC project carried out over two consecutive years in partnership with the DAAC.

It brought together the Cinémas du Palais, the MAC of Créteil, and the MAC/VAL in a collaborative effort to bring school children closer to art. Or vice versa.

The project involved three different middle and high school classes from Limeil-Brévannes, Vitry-sur-Seine, and Ivry, France between September 2014 and June 2015, followed by four additional classes in 2015–2016.

SensArtsionnel is conceived as a year-long journey that invites middle/high school students to collectively visit exhibitions, watch films, and attend dance performances, all accompanied by hands-on workshops that engage their experience as spectators. The project explores how to trace connections between different forms of art we encounter, between everyday life and the experience of spectatorship, and between our individual stories and those told by art historians.

It is a kind of treasure hunt through the winding paths of the forest of the arts—a journey unfolding over the course of the school year, during which we learn, as curious spectators, how to read traces, listen to sounds, and venture without fear onto the slippery terrain proposed by today’s artists.

What compass should we use? What map can guide us?
And how can we best accompany a young spectator on this journey?
