The displaced gesture
Le geste déplacé
The displaced gesture is a project carried out with three vocational tracks at Edgar Pisani Agricultural High School in Montreuil-Bellay, (FR) as part of the regional theme Le Geste Professionnel (The Professional Gesture).
The project was developed in collaboration with the Art’ur Network (the Artistic Action Network for Public Agricultural Education), in partnership with FRAC Pays de la Loire and the DRAC.
The displaced gesture consists of an intense six-day practical and theoretical workshop for students from three tracks: wine and viticulture, services to people and territories, and landscape design.
The project culminates in a site-specific, roaming performance created collectively and presented in various locations throughout the school. Through this process, students are invited to observe their own bodies, the contact between bodies, and to playfully examine the situations, environments, and tools that shape these encounters—ultimately gaining insight into the different ways their physicality is engaged in their everyday professional practices.
